Himsagar mangoes, primarily grown in West Bengal and Odisha, are celebrated for their exceptional sweetness, smooth texture, and rich, creamy flesh. These medium-sized mangoes have a thin green skin that turns slightly yellow when ripe and a deep orange, fiberless interior. Their flavor is a perfect blend of sweetness with a hint of tartness, accompanied by an intoxicating aroma.
Available from May to July, Himsagar mangoes are best enjoyed fresh but are also perfect for smoothies, desserts, and mango-based dishes. Often called the "King of Mangoes" their short season and exquisite taste make them a true delicacy.
Shelf Life
- Day 0: Mangoes are plucked from the trees
- Day 1-2: They are shipped for delivery
- Day 3-6: They are in transit, get delivered, and start ripening slowly
- Day 7-8: Best to consume
Storage Instructions
Day 0-6:
Green in color
If mango reaches you while still unripe, keep it in hay until ripe
Day 6-9:
Color turns yellow and starts giving an aroma
Note - Soak the ripe fruit in water for 1-2 hours before consuming.
